Class "A" Training!
Posted by Dennis Norman on Nov 23rd 2016
As a veteran of over 20+ years of the USAF Security Police career field, a civilian Deputy Security Director of NS Mayport, a GGP Mall Director of Public Safety, a member of a state of Florida University Police Department and a Senior Security Officer at FSCJ, this training but far was "Top Notch". Bernard and Scott provided each attendee with information and guidance second to none. Bernard has the patience to place and keep you on track when you are struggling. The training and information received was an honor and a privilege from no other than professionals. The best!

Outstanding Instructor and instruction delivery method. Mr. Martinage is not only a great instructor but he demonstrated the highest degree of knowledge and professionalism throughout the entire course. It is almost impossible to find this level of professionalism, knowledge and care for student learning.
What Excellent Instuctor Training, See SNS!!!

The Instructor was not only very knowledgeable, but was able to effectively and clearly communicate that knowledge to his students. Further, the Instructor was never hurried and encouraged comments and questions from the students, all of which helped to build upon the learning experience. At times the NRA required learning material can become very dry, but the instructor was able to bring his vast experience and knowledge into play to help facilitate the learning process. Overall an excellent training opportunity. I have already suggested this Instructor to my associates for training opportunities offered by this instructor. Robert Steven Pace
Very Positive Experience

In Light of the fact that the NRA has recently revamped the entire training process, I would say that I received a high quality well put together class.
NRA Instructor Class Review

Bernard is great. He keeps the class relevant. It is one thing to just teach material, but something else to help you truly understand the material and connect with the students. By the time the class ends, you are hoping for more. His knowledge and experience is the real value in his class. I feel as though a friendship and true mentor-ship has started. Thanks Bernard

Bernard is an awesome Counselor. He took the time to make sure every person in the class had a clear understanding on the objectives before moving on. We had two long days but it was worth every minute because Bernard kept the class interesting and challenging. Thanks Bernard.
ALWAYS EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS
Posted by Scott Sagman on Jan 10th 2016
WOW...how do describe an experience like no other? The instructor of this class is Bernard Martinage. His credentials are outstanding but more importantly he backs them up with a presentation style that is both easy to understand and more importantly easy to assimilate into action. He takes every lesson, term, or principle and turns them into exciting and useable information . During his class he not only had examples of almost every type of handgun imaginable, but he let you handle them in a safe manner. He was always there making sure the pistol was handled in a responsible manner. If you fell short of his very high expectation for safely handling a pistol, he had a wonderful way of correcting you which turned an admonition into a pleasant learning experience. His "props" were outstanding. He took everyday items such as empty water bottles or eyedroppers and turned them into learning tools that everyone in the class related to. In fact the common response was "wow" and we would all chuckle as the concept he was teaching became crystal clear.
I have both an undergraduate and graduate degree and I can safely say that Mr. Martinage was better than 99% of my college and graduate school professors. Of course what he was teaching , quite frankly, potentially will have a bigger impact on my life and my students lives than what the college elite were teaching.
I could write quite a bit more but suffice it to say that you will get more than your money's worth. My expectations for the class were far exceeded.
You will enjoy the ride.
Excellent Instructor Course

Bernard went out of his way to work around my travel schedule prior to his Pistol Instructor Course. His enthusiasm and energy in instructing made the Pistol Instructor Course very informative and entertaining. Bernard, you are a great ambassador for the industry and the NRA! I highly recommend your training courses and I look forward to continuing my education with you in the future. Thank you!

If you are really serious about becoming an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and learning from a dedicated, motivating, highly skilled educator with immense personal experience in firearms, teaching firearms skills and teaching others to teach these skills, Bernard Martinage is who you need to seek out. Not only will you have the foundation to be the very best Instructor you can be but he will also share with you information regarding the business aspect of your certification. This was some of the most intense and rewarding days of my firearm education and reflecting back, this training from Bernard is the strongest foundation I can imagine for a beginning NRA Pistol Instructor. Thank you Bernard, I will be back for future training.
Outstanding Class, Exceptional Trainer

Mr. Martinage has outperformed any instructor it has ever been my pleasure with whom to study. With quick, knowledgeable responses and right-on examples for further clarification left me intrigued. Bernard's training aids are over the top. His sense of Patriotism and embracement of our US Constitution exceeds 95% of our country's population. Bernard represents the NRA in the most exceptional manner and provides the perfect image of an outstanding Trainer for our great organization. I am so excited about his technique and knowledge that all future classes for my family, friends and myself will be with Mr. Martinage (with exception of those I teach).

This is the best, most caring, concerned instructor that I have ever had in any class of training in my 55 year and I have had many over the years from Diving Instructors to First Aid a very good representative of the NRA. I'm look forward to coming back for more classes in the near future. Your The Best, Thanks Bernard Martinage
Very good and professional class

This course was great. It is run very professionally and Bernard is a great instructor. This course is demanding, with long days and lots of information to retain, but the way that Bernard presents it and push you to succeed is what makes it a great class. Bernard will make you earn your certification but he is very fair and willing to help you earn your certification. I know my future train will be with Bernard and yours should be too!!

I have taken and attended numerous courses for over 25 years, both military and LE, including general topics instructor, firearms instructor, and SWAT and I can honestly say that Bernard ranks right up there with the very best. He's extremely knowledgeable and confident in his teaching and it shows in his sincere passion and desire to teach and pass on his knowledge and experience. I would, and will, be attending future courses. I highly recommend Safe N Secure.

Price of the course was amazing compared to the area. These are long, but Bernard makes every minute worth it. The training he provides was well worth the drive. I have already started recommending him to friends for future classes. I will be returning to Safe n Secure for additional training.
Not A Give Me Course!

The NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Course is some hard work for both you and the instructor, but worth it. My class had (7) seasoned adults from various back grounds with a true cross section of the America. The days were long but proved to be very informative for me. I am glad I took the class and I will be taking more classes from Bernard in the future.

Bernard was an outstanding Instructor that had the unique ability of packing 20+ hours of training in two days very enjoyable. The content was interesting, interactive, and inspiring! Intuitive and innovative were two takeaways from Bernard's success and I hope to carry on what he's taught - a true professional.
Bernard is the best!

I took this class not really knowing what I was getting into... maybe just a way to make a little money in one of my hobbies, but I found the class instead to be much much more! Quality training by a quality and quite humorous instructor... highly recommended!
Enjoyed this class and the way it was taught.

I was happy to find that this was not a rubber stamp course and that the Instructor (Bernard) takes his role as an Instructor trainer very seriously. We put in some long hours but I felt that the experience and information as it was presented was worth every minute and every penny. In my 30 years of Law Enforcement I have had few courses this challenging and. this much fun
Posted by Scott G. on Mar 27th 2014
Lots of information and instruction. A very thorough and involved course that covers everything from how to instruct in a classroom setting to managing a new shooter at the range. Packed with useful and relevant information.

This is a great course!!! I highly recommend this course to both military, law enforcement and civilian alike. I looked around the internet and found this to be the best value, and was very pleased with a superior level of instruction. The staff is professional and readily makes themselves available to assist you, before, during and after the class. I will most definitely take another class from these gentlemen.
NRA Pistol Instructor Course

I didn't know what to expect going into the course, but I was very pleased by the end of the first day. It was incredibly informative, insightful, and challenged every student, regardless of experience level. As a former Army Infantry NCO, I've instructed hundreds of soldiers on tactics, shooting basics, and some of the more advanced shooting aspects such as ballistics and everything from CQB to long range shooting, so I was pretty confident that it would be a breeze. While I didn't struggle, Bernard challenged myself as well as a couple of the more experienced shooters there, and got me personally to think outside the box, and taught me some new ways to demonstrate and teach. I would definitely recommend this course or others provided by Bernard, but for those thinking it's going to be tons of shooting, expect lots of class time, and actually lots of fun, especially if you end up in a very dynamic and diverse class like I did.
top notch trainer for trainers

I have gone through countless training in both the military and corporate sectors in the past 20 years and by far, Bernard is rated as one of the finest and professional instructors out there.
I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to increase their effectiveness as mentor or professional trainer. I look forward to working with Bernard and his team in future courses. Bravo Zulu!

be sure you get a good nights sleep the night before because the info will be coming at you at a good pace. This is not a course for a novice. I enjoyed the closeness of the group within my training class and it taught leadership and cooperation. I am looking forward to using my skills learned. You will not be disappointed.
Outstanding Instructional Quality and Value

I am a professional law enforcement trainer and have participated in a wide variety of instructor training. By far the quality of training delivered in the course was above and beyond a vast majority of the more expensive programs I have participated in. The teaching tools I left with will not doubt enable me to provide quality instruction to my future students and will help further the positive image of the responsible gun owner/user in my community. I look forward to training with this outfit in the future and strongly recommend them to anyone interested taking a train-the-trainer course.

As a Master Instructor and as the company Instructor Development Coordinator, I encouraged our entire instructor cadre to attend this course as taught by Bernard Martinage. My senior and emerging instructors received more than NRA courseware indoctrination—Bernard’s skill as a professional educator significantly increased retention of NRA subject matter and improved instructor efficacy among my team of instructors. Excellent Training Brings New Opportunities

As a lifelong educator and someone passionate about shooting, becoming an instructor seemed like a natural progression. Not only did this class improve my skills with firearms, it strengthened my confidence both as a shooter and a teacher. When I doubted myself, Bernard and David did not and set the bar high with expectations for me to achieve. Since this class, I have continued seeking new opportunities and have become certified as a Range Safety Officer, Personal Protection in the Home, and Refuse to Be a Victim. I am doing private lessons of all the above as well as Conceal Carry Classes and have been the trainer at 2 different gun shops in the area. This class opened new horizons and gave me new opportunities to share my excitement and passion for firearms. I highly recommend it and cannot wait to take more classes!!
High Quality Training = High Quality Trainers

When I first thought about becoming a certified trainer for the NRA I knew I had a good goal. After taking this course with Bernard and Dan, I realize I am involved with a process that means much more than certifying others to carry a firearm. I am now responsible for teaching others how to be safe and sure firearm owners. My responsibility is to teach others how to save their life and others by using their firearms responsibly, each and every time.
I feel much more confidence to do just that because of the dedicated teaching I experienced at the DropZone. To say that these instructors are dedicated to their task is an understatement. This course has made me a much more responsible and qualified educator.
I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to "raise the bar" in their firearm knowledge and ability to train others.
Awesome Class- Extremely Professional
Posted by Jeff Roseman on Apr 3rd 2013 on Nov 8th 2013
I have been in the Army for the past 22 plus years. So, you can imagine that in my tenure in the Army, I have had many training classes ranging from 2 hours to 16 weeks. I thought that prior to taking the Basic Instructor Training, Home Firearms Defense, and Basic Pistol, that it would be just another one of those powerpoint sleepers. You know what I mean. This 2 day course was exactly opposite. Dan and Bernard are awesome, and their personalities mesh well together. Every learning tool to keep the class attention was readily available for the class to use. There is definitely a lot of material to cover in 2 days, but we are out in the middle of the woods, at a great training facility, with no distractions. Not only did I recieve great training to go out and teach others, but I made some great friends. If you are looking to learn about safety, firearms, tactics, home, and self defense, this is the place to go. I am an avid shooter, and a DIE HARD 2nd Amendment supporter, and these guys are too. They display the type of passion that spills over to the class, making it an incredible training event. I am getting ready for sign up for more certifications in the near future. I will only be trained by Bernard and Dan. Awesome. Thanks again.

WOW….very tiring time but great classes due to the instructors. Having gone through years of advanced college courses the idea of 12 hours+ days I thought I would need to use some energy drink I purchased. But with the way the classes were organized and conducted time went by in a flash so I never needed them. Dan and Bernard are very engaging and excellent teachers.

This course was fantastic! I did not know what to expect from this course going in, but I must say that every aspect of this course was exceptional! The training was first rate, and I definitely felt prepared to teach immediately following the conclusion of the class. Instructors were extremely knowledgeable and helpful in every way. I will definitely be taking courses from here again in the future!
